Creativity and engaging storytelling are a must when it comes to successful filmmaking, regardless of the target platform or format used. As a global phenomenon and a massive hub for original, inventive content, created by users for other users, TikTok has already become a key part of the debate around modern video content and means of communication.
The ninth edition of Papaya Young Creators will introduce two new subcategories. One of them is TikTok Unique Stories. TikTok offers contestants the opportunity to push TikTok’s envelope as an entertainment platform by creating with original interpretations of themes outlined in our creative starters. Young creators can come up with an idea for a standalone film taking on the subject of diversity.
TikTok Unique Stories
This year marks the first time in the competition’s history that contestants will be also allowed to submit their films, instead of just original ideas. The submitted film will have to interpret TikTok’s idea (diversity & inclusion) included in the creative starter, as well as particular visual tropes and storytelling style. The theme and the task itself are described in detail in the creative starter that you can find at the beginning of the article. Given the unique nature of the subcategory, which entails not only coming up with an original concept, but also submitting completed films, the timeframe has be adjusted and the submissions deadline extended through to May 11, 2022.
How to submit your film?
This is a category where you submit your finished videos. To participate in the competition you must:
- Record a video using the TikTok platform with the hashtag #TikTokUniqueStories, in response to the competition task.
Awards
The best films produced for TikTok Unique Stories category will premiere alongside all the other films and music videos shot for the ninth edition of the Papaya Young Creators competition in June 2022. Best Film winners for the TikTok Unique Stories subcategory will be revealed at the awards gala. The authors of films created for the subcategory will have the chance to win in a unique mentoring session with the director and artist Monika Brodka, the director and screenwriter Natasza Parzymies or the popular digital creator, artist and influencer Cura. There is PLN 10,000 to be won, and Papaya Films will also provide an internship program for the winners.
